The Bible commands us to pray (Matthew 26:41, Mark 14:38, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, James 5:16) with all manner of prayer (Eph. 6:18). There are many different types or kinds of prayer and each follows clear principles. There are prayers that do not necessarily seek something from God. Others aim to change a circumstance in our lives or the lives of others. All of them want to listen to God (Ps. 65.2; Prov 15.8b).
